Financial information

HLAA-FL operates on a small budget funded by donations, sponsorships and chapter dues, and every dollar is handled by volunteers. Because our receipts are under the IRS threshold, we file the Form 990-N e-Postcard rather than a full Form 990. A financial statement is filed with the State of Florida each year with our charitable registration renewal and is available through Check-A-Charity. Members may request a copy of the treasurer's report by contacting us.

Common questions

Is HLAA-FL a registered 501(c)(3)?

Yes. The Hearing Loss Association of Florida, Inc., EIN 65-0783660, has been recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity since 1998. You can verify this on the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. Donations are deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Why does HLAA-FL file a Form 990-N instead of a Form 990?

The IRS lets organizations with gross receipts normally $50,000 or less file the short Form 990-N e-Postcard. HLAA-FL is a small volunteer association well under that threshold. The e-Postcard confirms the organization is active and lists its principal officer and address.

Where can I see HLAA-FL's financial statement?

Our annual financial statement is filed with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and can be viewed through Check-A-Charity by searching for Hearing Loss Association of Florida. Members may also request the treasurer's report through the contact page.

Can I get a copy of the bylaws?

Yes. The July 2020 bylaws are available as a PDF on this page. If you need them in another format, such as large print or plain text, contact us and we will provide one.
