HLAA-FL Email Updates
Add your email and we will tell you when HLAA-FL holds a statewide captioned Zoom meeting, and when there is Florida news worth your time. Free, and you can leave at any time.

What we send, and how often
HLAA-FL is run entirely by volunteers and has no paid staff. Right now we do not publish a regular newsletter, because no one has stepped forward to write one. We are not going to pretend otherwise on this page.
What we do send is short and occasional: an announcement when a statewide HLAA-FL Zoom meeting is scheduled, and the occasional update when something in Florida genuinely affects people with hearing loss, such as a change to a program that helps pay for hearing aids. Statewide meetings are quarterly and follow the Florida Coordinating Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing schedule, so dates are announced once that council sets its own.
It is free, every message has a one-click unsubscribe, and we never sell or share your email address.

Want to help bring the newsletter back?
A quarterly newsletter is well within reach for HLAA-FL, and it does not take a writer or a designer. It takes one volunteer willing to spend a few hours four times a year collecting chapter updates and meeting dates and putting them in order. The board handles the sending.
If that sounds like something you could do, or you would rather help by contributing chapter news, tell us. This is one of the most useful things a volunteer can do for Floridians with hearing loss who live nowhere near a chapter.
Common questions
How often will I hear from you?
Not often. There is no regular newsletter at the moment, so expect a message when a statewide Zoom meeting is scheduled, which is quarterly, plus the occasional Florida update. We would rather send you four useful emails a year than twelve you delete.
Why is there no regular newsletter?
HLAA-FL has no paid employees. Every officer and chapter leader is a volunteer with hearing loss doing this in their own time, and nobody has been able to take the newsletter on. It is on our list, and it is a role we would hand to a volunteer tomorrow. In the meantime the news page and the events calendar on this website are kept current.
Are past issues available?
Not on the website yet. If you are looking for something specific from an earlier issue, contact us and a board member will check what we have on file.
Is the email accessible?
Yes. We send email with real text, descriptive links and alternative text on images, so it works with screen readers and large text settings. If an email is hard for you to read, contact us and we will send you the information another way.
Do I need to be an HLAA member?
No. This is open to anyone interested in hearing loss in Florida. HLAA members also receive Hearing Life magazine and national e-news directly from HLAA; you can join through hearingloss.org.
Have Florida news to share?
Chapter leaders and partners can send meeting dates, events and stories for this website and the Florida calendar.
