Programs & Events for Floridians With Hearing Loss
Captioned Zoom meetings, chapter events across Florida, hearing loop projects and statewide advocacy for communication access. Everything is open to people with hearing loss and the people who support them.

What HLAA-FL offers
HLAA-FL is the Florida State Association of the Hearing Loss Association of America. We run captioned online meetings, push for hearing loops in Florida venues and speak up for communication access at the state level. Local chapters host in-person meetings in their own communities; we connect the state.

Common questions
Are HLAA-FL events free?
Our Zoom meetings and webinars are free and open to everyone, member or not. Chapter meetings across Florida are also free to attend. The Walk4Hearing is free to join, and walkers are encouraged to raise funds for hearing loss programs. The HLAA national convention charges registration.
Are the meetings captioned?
Yes. Every HLAA-FL Zoom meeting has live captions, and HLAA national webinars are captioned as well. Many Florida chapters use CART (live captioning) or hearing loops at in-person meetings. If you need a specific accommodation, contact us before the event and we will do our best to arrange it.
Do I need to be an HLAA member to attend?
No. Anyone with hearing loss, and any family member, friend or professional, is welcome at our meetings and events. Membership in HLAA is handled by the national office and helps support the work, but it is never required to attend a meeting or ask for help.
How do I find events near me in Florida?
Start with the Florida events calendar, which lists statewide and national online events. For in-person meetings, visit the Florida chapters page and pick the chapter closest to you. Each chapter sets its own meeting schedule, and several pause for the summer months.
Can my chapter or organization list an event here?
Yes. Florida chapters, support groups and partner organizations can send event details through our contact page. Include the date, time, location or Zoom link, a short description and whether captioning or a hearing loop will be available. We add events to the Florida calendar as they come in.
Help us reach more Floridians
Volunteers run every HLAA-FL program. Give a few hours, or sponsor an event and put your name in front of the hearing loss community.
